Depression - whether or not you have been trying for a long time depression can be a symptom or cause of fertility problems.  Often it is linked with a lack of energy, insomnia, low appetite and libido.  We will always recommend you see your GP to register symptoms of depression and to take prescribed medication if that is necessary.

Hormonal headaches - Many hormonal headaches are caused by fluctuating blood sugar levels, so nutrition is key.  They can also be exacerbated by stress, insomnia and other symptoms.  Acupuncture is also often useful and in some cases we use Chinese herbal medicine. Counselling and/or hypnotherapy can help deal with stress if this is making the issue worse.

Anxiety & stress - acupuncture is ideal for with stress but herbal medicine and counselling/hypnotherapy can also be used, especially if your sleep is disturbed or it is a longer term problem. Acupuncture has been shown in clinical trials to decrease the amount of hormones caused by anxiety. Nutritional analysis of mineral ratios can also be important as an imbalance can cause anxiety symptoms and chronic stress can cause the body to deplete mineral and vitamin resources more quickly.

Menopausal symptoms - depending on the severity of the symptoms we work with nutrition and herbal medicine as well as acupuncture to help with night sweats, hot flushes, headaches, joint pain, foggy head and forgetfulness as well as any other symptoms that are associated with peri/menopause.

Women are told that miscarriage is 'normal', and it is true that around 30% of all conceptions end in early miscarriage.  The intricate and delicate web of chromosomes and hormones that have to be in the right place at the right time is so complex that it is understandable that it doesn't always go right first, or second time.  However, unless you work in 'the field' as we, and your GPs do, then it is hard to have this perspective.  Each miscarriage is an emotional jolt which can bring up sadness, fear and anxiety.

We are here to support you whether you've had one or more miscarriages.  Our counsellors are experienced in supporting you and talking things through, and acupuncture can help calm anxieties.  We will also take a close look at your case and check for hormonal imbalances or nutritional deficiencies or environmental issues in case these are a contributing factor.  See our case studies page for some of our experiences with this.

Recurrent miscarriage is usually described as 3 or more miscarriages.  Again, we take a close look at your history and will recommend further investigations i.e. hysteroscopy) where necessary.  We also recommend Chinese Herbal medicine in these cases because occasionally the miscarriages are due, not to physical obstacles but to deficiencies in the mother's system - such as overstretched adrenals or poor nutrition.  Hair Mineral Analysis is also very useful in determining the presence, or not, or heavy metals (e.g. mercury or lead) or other toxins which could be having a negative effect
